Parrish Church, Dover, England

The old stone Parrish church in Dover is near the city center, across the street from the Eight  Bells pub.  Behind the church is a small cemetery with gravestones dating back to the 1800’s.  It was a blustery day, temperature in the high 40’s, the sun going in and out behind the clouds.

In 1979 a tree was planted to commemorate the installation of the queen mother as warden of the Cinque ports. It was this tree which drew us there.  In full bloom it spread across the entire garden.  The red papery bark contrasted sharply with the white flowers.  There was no identifying marker to tell me the name of the tree. (later our taxi driver, Paul told me this is a flowering cherry)

The blustery wind had blown many blossoms onto the ground.  It looked like snow, it felt cold enough to snow.  The blossoms promise spring.
